Community Participation in Melbourne

At BJ Disability Services, we believe meaningful community participation is at the heart of living a fulfilling and independent life.
We are proud to partner with local Community Hubs to deliver inclusive, engaging, and person-centred social activities that empower our NDIS participants to connect, grow, and thrive.
Our programs are designed to build confidence, develop life skills, strengthen social connections, and support overall wellbeing — all while having fun in a safe and supportive environment.
Community Participation Activities
Social and Recreational Activities
Building friendships and enjoying shared experiences is essential for wellbeing. Our social and recreational programs are tailored to match each participant’s interests, goals, and abilities.
Group Outings
Participants can enjoy supported trips to local parks, museums, cinemas, cafés, shopping centres, beaches, and community events. These outings promote independence, social confidence, and real-world skill development.
Sports and Fitness Programs
We encourage active lifestyles through community sports leagues, swimming, yoga, walking groups, gym sessions, and adaptive fitness programs. Physical activity improves not only health but also confidence and teamwork skills.
Cultural Events and Festivals
From local festivals and markets to multicultural celebrations and community fairs, we support participants to engage in vibrant community experiences that celebrate diversity and inclusion.
Volunteering and Service Projects
Giving back to the community fosters purpose, pride, and connection. We support participants to explore volunteering opportunities that match their interests and strengths.
Community Clean-Ups
Taking part in neighbourhood clean-ups and environmental projects builds teamwork and a sense of accomplishment while contributing positively to the local area.
